Bonobo & Pedro

Bonobo plays smooth, smooth beats for Ninja Tune. And Pedro is a glitch electro artist who likes his piano. Awesome if you liked Clark (below!). Check out Pedro's "dead grass" on this fancy new player and just wait for that beat to drop.

Good stuff

First Grizzly Bear album, much different but incredible. Psychic Ills are a cool jam rock band and Ugly Casanova is an amazing pop side-project from Isaac Brock (lead singer of Modest Mouse).

Grizzly Bear - Horn of Plenty
Psychic Ills - Early Violence
Ugly Casanova - Sharpen Your Teeth
Also!
10 CD's, 73 tracks worth of Japanese improvised music. good luck.

Electonics.

Paintings by Tape is an amazing album, made from field recordings, laptops and toy instruments. Like a more ambient Books, maybe. So good if that's your thing. Also, Boards of Canada live at ATP is really good. Those people talking throughout are lame though.

super lame.

More folky stuff.

Panda Bear's (one of the Animal Collective) Person Pitch is 60's sunshine pop/psych-folk. One of my favorite CD's in a bit. Julie Doiron's latest is folky, girly music about feelings... but it sounds great.

A Few Things

To chill out to: Brightblack Morning Light are freak-folk hippies who play smoother than smooth. I can't think of a better record to come down to. Helios is super chill electro with subtle beats and occasionally...nature sounds! Alpha are on the same label as Portishead and Massive Attack...but are meant for sunnier days.
Otherwise, Menomena are a lot of fuckin' fun. A really solid pop album.
For Vanessa, this is the Aids Wolf show we were at the other day

Brightblack Morning Light - S/T
Helios - Eignya
Alpha - Lost in a Garden of Clouds pt.1
Menomena - Friend and Foe (down)
Aids Wolf - 01.25.07 - Friendship Cove, Montreal

Klaxons & Castanets

Another band coming to town, Castanets, are responsible for one of my favorite cd's, and the Klaxons are mean dance-rock.
